Quick Frame Grabs in Aperture 3

February 9, 2010 in Media by Micah Walter 0 comments

Yay! Aperture 3 has support for video. I am still kicking the tires on this major update, but I must say, video support is one thing that has me really excited. To get started I imported a card from the Canon 5D MKII, and started messing around. Here is what I have found.

Video playback is seamless

The video playback function in Aperture is just like Quicktime. Controls are very intuitive, clean and perfectly integrated with Aperture. So far so good.

Frame Grabs are a Snap

One of the first things that caught my attention was the newly added "New JPEG from frame" feature. I scrubbed this short clip to a frame I thought was decent and clicked the option here to make a new Jpeg Version. Aperture saved it as a new JPEG and added it to my library.

Some minor adjustments, and then export!

I was really excited by this new feature that I just applied some minor adjustments to the new Jpeg, exported it to my desktop and sent it out as an email. I have so many great moments in my video clips that could work nicely as stills. This is gonna be fun!
