View Contents of Multiple Projects by Simply Selecting Them in Aperture 3

February 9, 2010 in Organize by David Schloss 0 comments

Not only can you move multiple Projects (Albums, Books, Galleries, etc.) around in Aperture by Command-Clicking or Shift-Clicking but when you do so, the contents of the selected items are all displayed in the Browser at once. This is a huge improvement for a variety of reasons.

First, it eliminates the need to put Projects into Folders simply to be able to view all the contents of the Projects. (Previously the only way to see more than one Project at a time was to put it in a folder and click on the enclosing folder. )

Second, it allows for much more interesting searches of images. Let’s say that I’ve got my Projects organized by Folders for months. If I remember that an image was shot sometime in the fall, I can now Command-Click on October and November and I’ll see all the files in those months.

This new system of multiple-item selection really opens up the organizational structure to vastly new possibilities. No longer do you need to name a Project according to the date (as you’ll see with the "200910310 halloween 2009" Project in the screenshot) because you can organize and view just by selecting things.
